As we are not geologists, we use the common names to describe them. But we used the term opalised wood, for fossil wood that has opal in it, not for common petrified wood.
Our opalised wood is very rare, not common.
The fossil and opalised wood presented on this page were found in an ancient creek in our opal mine, while hand tunnelling underground at 40 feet deep.
All these specimens are natural, they have not been treated in any way.

The second piece included was separated in the middle of the opal seam (split ) from one long piece on the main specimen,has a face of opal
